Spring is just about here….finally.

I don’t know about you but I’m ready for a little warmth. I’m ready to see the buds of those spring flowers and happy to have time to spend in the garden, enjoying nature, and doing a little digging and pruning!

I remember from my days of growing up in England, how dark, cold and long the winter days were.

When spring finally sprung, I also remember the feeling of burdens being lifted, an incredible lightness and excitement to make my garden look pretty again.

The heaviness of winter may be still lingering, but when the sun starts shining a little warmer, we often find ourselves wanting to go into major spring cleaning mode.

To me, spring is a time of renewal. It’s when the world around us blooms and sprouts in beauty and there’s an innate desire within us to do the same.

‘Spring Cleaning’ may mean something different for everyone.

Whether it’s cleaning out your closets and junk drawers, tidying the basement storage areas, freshening up your eating habits, clearing out the negative in your relationships or detoxing your mind of heavy emotions – spring is the time to do it. Spring is when we’re thirsting to feel lighter, more energized and more inspired.

Here are a few ways you can feel lighter this Spring:

1. Simplify.

Keep It Simple

Whether it’s planning your menus, organizing your self-care routines or taking care of your home, whatever it is, keep it super simple.

When it comes to your eating plan, simplify your meals – make them as wholesome and packed with nutrition as you can. Honestly, you’ll feel like a brand new person.

Meal planning, grocery shopping, having to think of what’s for dinner each night can be exhausting.

Try eating very simply for the next week and see how things shift for you. Eat whole foods, with few ingredients and low prep time. Think mason jar salads or roasted broccoli and a small piece of grilled salmon. There is beauty in simplicity.

2. When Life Gives You Lemons…

It may sound incredibly simple, but that’s what we’re doing here! Simple! We’re talking about simple, beneficial changes that don’t overwhelm.

Add a squeeze of lemon into your water in the morning (and throughout the day, if you wish) and enjoy the alkalizing, naturally detoxifying benefits. Your digestive system will thank you and you’ll enjoy a nice boost of natural energy and an added boost to your immunity.

3. Start Small

Make a list of what you’d like to declutter in your home and in your life.

Start small, and prioritize. What is the most important thing you can do? What will have the biggest impact?

Maybe you’ve got a bunch of clothes in your closet – and you don’t even remember the last time you wore them. Start there. Start with whatever is the biggest burden on you. The state of your surroundings has a huge impact on your overall sense of wellbeing.

Maybe you’re trying to improve your health and wellness.

Spring is a wonderful time to tackle that pantry and declutter all the junk food and unhealthy snacks that don’t serve you. That’s another great place to start.

4. Improvements

Child Having Fun

What have you been hoping to add to your life to give it more value?

  • Have you been meaning to start painting again?
  • Is there a craft that you’ve been itching to try?
  • Have you been promising yourself for months that you were finally going to start working out, or reading more?

What instantly pops in your head when you read this?

Start by adding one thing in the next week that will improve the quality of your life. Perhaps that’s a new, relaxing evening ritual or a commitment to get bi-weekly massages for stress relief. Pick one thing, and go for it!

Baby steps coupled with consistent, daily action will get you to where you want to go.

Now it’s your turn:

  1. What will you do to simply your life?
  2. What one habit can you build on this month that will bring positive change?
  3. What one fun thing you’d love to add into your life to make you have a happier more joyful life.
