About Laura Brailsford:
Laura Brailsford has been building a life through movement since she was three years of age. Studying dance as a major in both high school and university, she quickly realized it is her most rewarding facet of self-expression and creativity. After an injury while teaching, she was forced to hang-up her dancing shoes but after a 15-year retirement, the music called her back and this time she grew her practice to include the body, mind and music connection of Yoga and Meditation. “Connecting with the breath is not only crucial to life but it is the foundation of all movement. As simple as it may seem, most of us spend our life holding our breath. Once we learn how to breathe, everything else in the body finds balance and harmony.” Laura has been a yoga and meditation facilitator for The Town of Innisfil for a year and offers classes for all skill levels and ages. “There are no limitations to the practice of yoga. Your body will show you the way.”
What We Discuss In This Episode:
In this episode, Laura shares her story of eating disorders and an auto-immune disorder to her life of breakdowns during her earlier years. She vulnerably shares some of her worst moments and how she rose from what one could call the lowest points in her life to a life of calm, peace, and joy.
Laura walks us through an easy meditation that is far from the “woo woo” perspective many have of meditation. She also debunks some of our misconceptions and expectations of being able to join a yoga class — and gives us hope that whatever our physical state is, we can all participate in and enjoy the benefits of yoga.
Laura shares her expertise on how you can live a life beyond your expectations through some easy practices. To me, this is a story of motivation for us all to be able to put some yoga and meditation in our lives to reap big benefits.
