As the holiday season begins to “heat up” again, as migraine sufferers, we often begin to worry about all the extra foods and drinks that can trigger a migraine, not to mention the extra stress and the extra social occasions that break into our normal routine and throw us off-balance.
I’ve spoken to so many of you about what your biggest health struggle is over the holidays, and inevitably, food and stress are huge ones. Not only do you have to be concerned about the interruption to your normal daily life — where you feel you have at least some semblance of control, but then you have to worry about those extra pounds that you pack on as well. Over-indulgence seems to be par for the course at this time of year. On top of the worry of migraines, you also feel like you undo all of your hard work throughout the year in these last few months, only to start the new year off with new plans of getting your health in order again. How to Lose Weight During the Holidays
When festivity fills the air, the holiday spirit becomes contagious. Winter, as it is, brings with itself a lethargy and longing for warmth that is found in the most indulgent of foods. Bakeries start stocking up, there are pies on window sills, mugs are topped with hot cocoa. Caution goes out the window and we stop fighting against the holiday spirit and put on the notorious burden we regret as soon as the New Year dawns: holiday weight.
It does not need to be one or the other, though. You can indulge in your eggnog and candy canes and emerge in the Thanksgiving feast as much as anyone else. There are only a few technical tips and tricks that you must integrate into your lifestyle and you will never have to worry about making the holiday spirit your enemy again.
Be prepared to start out your New Year already feeling like the new self you need to be, having already taken losing weight off of your list of resolutions. Let your body and mind both get the best this holiday season.

We do get caught up in it and we do get more stressed that we would like.
When you are stressed, it’s quite easy to develop negative thinking patterns because you become frustrated by your challenges and frequent feelings of being overwhelmed. This negative outlook then makes it even harder for us to manage those challenges and move forward and break through the stress cycle. Especially this time of year, stress feels like it is part of the holidays, but we can breakthrough that cycle.
7 Ways to Boost Your Energy Without Caffeine
Are you a coffee drinker? If so, do you faithfully begin your day with a cup of coffee?
I used to be such a huge coffee drinker that I could drink it up to 8 or 9 p.m. every day without it interrupting my sleep patterns. Over the years, as I have become more aware of health issues and a healthy lifestyle, I have cut down my coffee to usually 2 cups per day – which I drink early in the morning.
Were you aware that statistics show that over 2 billion cups of coffee are consumed worldwide each day, so chances are, you’re a coffee drinker too. You also probably feel that sometimes it feels like the only way to add some pep in your step is to fill up your mug with some fresh coffee, doesn’t it? That was certainly how I lived my life for many years. I relied on that caffeine to give me an energy boost – especially in the afternoons when my energy began to drain away and I experienced that mid-afternoon energy slump so many of us encounter.
