8 Natural Ways to Achieve Migraine Relief
Amazing as it may seem, according to studies, more than 47 million Americans have experienced a severe or debilitating headache in the past three months. Migraines alone affect 9% of the U.S. population and costs $1 billion a year in direct medical expenses.
The majority of migraine sufferers choose the most common approach for dealing with the pain— nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, preventatives such as beta blockers or anti-depressants, and triptans, such as Imitrex or Relpax, once symptoms start.
For many, even this approach is not effective. Migraines and headaches are persistent and often the medications aren’t as effective as one would like. If that is you, you might consider some other types of approaches to see if they can provide relief. Here are 8 Natural Ways to Achieve Migraine Relief.

Migraine Prevention Tips to Help You Feel Energized and Healthier
Migraine Prevention Tips: This week’s blog is a rather unique one in that is shows how QUINOA can help relieve migraines. It’s unusual because we don’t think of quinoa as being a migraine prevention food – but read on!
As you probably know, quinoa is one of those new “buzz” words we hear when people talk about “superfoods.” You may have heard that these superfoods, such as quinoa, blueberries and kale, are the answer to many of today’s health issues. We already know that foods can be medicine, and are most often used as a preventative. So if that’s the case, can foods like quinoa help ease migraines?
Well, quinoa, like other superfoods, can help relieve migraines by providing nutrients that are proven to reduce migraine frequency as well as boosting your overall health. Actually, as an interesting side note, I recently read that quinoa was termed as the “super crop” by the United Nations because of its amazing health benefits. It is one of the rare plant-based food sources of complete protein – which our body requires. (As a vegetarian or vegan, this is great news, since many vegetarians are always looking for healthy sources of protein.)
4 Biggest Detox Myths Debunked
4 Biggest Detox Myths Debunked: Here in the United States, people are still having severe storms and flooding, and other parts of the world are having strange weather patterns too. Here in Florida we are in the typical summer pattern – hot, humid and often stormy! Sometimes at this time of year, if you are an outdoor physical activity-type person, it can be hard to get out in the heat, humidity or stormy weather, so when the days are good we should take advantage of it. When our days are not so good, then it’s time to plan other types of physical activity indoors or at the gym. I was reading a friend’s Facebook post recently where she posted a beautiful picture of where she had just been for a two mile walk and she was saying how hard it was to make the effort – excuses always seem to get in the way – I’m too busy, it’s too hot, etc. It’s hard to make the “attitude adjustment” we need to make sometimes, but the results are rewarding. I don’t know about you, but I feel so much more energized and healthier when I incorporate exercise into my daily/weekly routine.
