In Your Crazy, Busy Life, Here’s How to Have Healthy Snacks Ready to Go!
Years ago, I was so unorganized with my eating. Thinking about preparing snacks or even lunch when I was away from home were unheard of. Yes, I was one of those who would be off to the closest fast food place to pick up lunch and snacks when I was working full-time. It never occurred to me to pre-plan or to have healthy snacks ready to go.
Here are a few suggestions for you when it comes to eating healthy snacks so that you don’t go down the same road I did.
When it comes to meal planning, it’s likely that you have your meals at home or for lunches pretty much nailed down. The problem comes when you want a snack and nothing is readily available. This can lead to eating the wrong things, reaching for the wrong snacks, and derailing your entire healthy eating plan. Before you start down that path, consider these methods of having healthy snacks ready to go when you or your family want them.

Foods to Give You Energy!
Gosh, I wish I had know all this years ago. You know that feeling, you drag yourself out of bed every morning, you go through the day in a fog, and you can’t wait to get home from work so you can get to bed or get some rest. The last thin you want to do is play with the kids, do homework or make dinner!
For years and years that was how I felt. I stumbled by from one day to another, wondering how I was going to make it through to the weekend. It would take me hitting my snooze button at least four times before I could drag myself out of bed every morning. I would dread having to get up. I was on a tight schedule and had to “fly” as I was getting ready for work, flew down the highway to work, and it seemed that at work it went from one important project to another without time to take a breath. By the time lunch came, I rushed through, went back to work and worked through the afternoon the same way. What was I going to do when I got home – there was dinner to think about, homework to help the children with, stuff to do around the house and little time for much else? Then the merry-go-round carried on the next day, and the next. I felt as if my life was passing me by and there seemed to be no end in sight.
Are There Really Drinks That Can Help Your Migraines?
Are There Really Drinks That Can Help Your Migraines?
If you are at all like me, you are always looking for ways to prevent and lessen the pain of migraine.
Although as I have told you before, in comparison to my almost daily headaches/migraines, I have very few, I am always looking for natural ways that can help prevent even those few I still have. I know during the most painful and frequent migraines of my life, I was desperate to find relief any way I could. That didn’t always involve natural remedies as for many years I was totally unaware of that avenue of help. Now I am more enlightened, I know the true benefits of using holistic and natural remedies. It leads to fewer migraines and lesser pain. What a great option!
In my Migraine Support Facebook Group, we discuss many ways to find natural relief. Recently we discussed ways to prevent migraines and I would love for you to join in with our discussions in that group.
Could These Foods be Key to More Migraine-Free Days?
Could these foods be key to more migraine-free days?
In this blog, we are going to dive into some key foods that could be of great benefit to you for migraine prevention.
According to the Migraine Research Foundation, migraines are now the third most common global illness, and astonishingly, are the reason behind more than 1.2 million emergency room admissions just in the U.S. each year. Research suggests there may be a genetic component to migraines — which for most migraine sufferers, we feel we have already figured that out!
However, there are steps you can take to reduce the severity, frequency, and duration of migraines, no matter the cause.
Although you cannot change your genes, you can start reducing triggers. Dehydration is a common migraine trigger.
5 Ways to Ditch the Emotional Eating
5 Ways to Ditch the Emotional Eating
Emotional eating is something we all face at some point or another, so it’s time to ditch the guilt and figure out what’s underlying.
I am an absolute “pro” on this subject! Why? Because I am definitely an emotional eater. For years I turned to food as comfort without even knowing that was what I was doing. It wasn’t just an occasional thing for me either. I would eat to feel better and then begin the binge-eating cycle (you know – the kind where you are binge eating in private so no one – not even your family – knows just how bad off you are). And you know what I found out after many years of this type of behavior and pattern? Once I became aware of the emotional eating factor I was engaging in, I realized that in all honesty, it did NOT make me feel better! Thus the “cycle” of emotional and binge eating. It just didn’t fill that void.

How to Jumpstart Your Weight Loss
How to Jumpstart Your Weight Loss
Everyone wants to lose weight quickly. I know this was the “magic pill” I was always chasing after. I always thought the next diet I tried would be “it” and that it would be the solution to all my problems. Time and time again I was disappointed. After the diet finished my happiness and satisfaction were short-lived. Before I knew it, I gained the weight back – and quite a bit more. I would look in the mirror and feel absolutely disgusted with myself….not to mention how unattractive I would feel. It had an effect on many areas of my life. No matter how many times my husband would tell me I looked great, I would feel ugly and fat. May be this how you feel? You try so hard but nothing seems to work for you.

Migraines and Hormones: Ripping Back the Curtain to Your Success
Migraines and Hormones: Ripping Back the Curtain to Your Success
In this blog, we are mainly focusing on menstrual migraines and the way hormones can affect our head during that period of time.
Were you aware that prior to puberty, migraines are three times more frequent in males than in females but after puberty that switches up and women are more likely to suffer from migraines than men? In a study in Oxford, it was found that women are twice as likely to have migraines and that:
“Brains are deferentially affected by migraine in females compared with males. Furthermore, the results also support the notion that sex differences involve both brain structure as well as functional circuits, in that emotional circuitry compared with sensory processing appears involved to a greater degree in female than male migraineurs. [1]”
As I have mentioned before, my first migraine was right after I gave birth to my son. Obviously, I now know that was due to hormonal changes in my body! So when I had my hysterectomy, I thought I would also find that my migraines stopped. Unfortunately for me that didn’t happen. In fact those were some of my worst years for migraines, and it was when they began to be more frequent and intense.
Of course, this is only one of the many triggers, but since we are on the subject of hormonal migraines this week, I will limit focus my blog on menstrual migraines.

Finally – Ways to Ditch Your Sugar Habit!
Finally – Ways to Ditch Your Sugar Cravings
When it comes to sugar cravings, I am a pro. For years I had this really, really bad sugar craving. I would buy chocolate (English, of course) and hide it so that no one in my family could find it…..and if they did…..well, I won’t say more! I would go through stages of total binging and would eat a whole (large bar) of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Chocolate every night. Subconsciously, I must have know this was not a good thing because I would hide it and do it in secret. Can you relate to that?
For many years, I was completely ignorant of the effect this was having on my body – and certainly didn’t know that sugar has been shown to be more addictive than cocaine. I wish I had known then what I know now.
Do This One Thing for Migraine Prevention
Only one thing for migraine prevention? Is that all you have to do to prevent migraines? Of course, that’s not what I mean, but in this post, I am talking about one specific thing that can have a big impact on triggering migraines……..WATER!
Hydration is very important if you are a migraine sufferer. The plain fact is, if you are not getting enough water, you will get migraines. I learned this the hard way and I suffered with migraines for years and years before anyone every pointed this out to me.
I grew up in a family and in a culture where we didn’t drink much water. We might drink a lot of hot tea, but unfortunately, tea, like coffee, has a more diuretic effect on the body, so that makes you even more dehydrated! Something I learned the hard way.
