How’s it coming with the holiday shopping and preparations? Hopefully you are taking time to enjoy this time of year and not getting too bogged down in the busyness of it all.

It can be so difficult during the holiday season to stay on track. We have so many social engagements, holiday parties, different events to go to, and even host some of our own. It is often a time for overindulgence, isn’t it?

Of course, it is always wonderful to have those special treats – you know, the ones we seem to save for the holidays! One of my family’s favorites is the Cranberry Bread I make.

In the past, I would just over-indulge and feel lousy about myself, feeling like I had no self-control – or my stomach would feel so bad from having over-consumed.

Many of us live by that counting calorie guide, and of course, we find ourselves way over the limit at this time of year.

It’s that time of year when in some areas of the world, Mother Nature “takes a rest” and settles in for a long winter nap! Not so much in other parts of the world, such as my little corner here in Florida, where, apart from a couple of months of cold, we still experience the blossoming of flowers, the beauty of the trees, and the warmth of the more tropical climate. Don’ get me wrong. When we get cold it can be very cold at night and into the 20s.

When this time of year arrives, we turn to the busyness and frenzy of the upcoming holidays. Our calendars fill up with holiday festivities and full days getting ready for the visits and celebrations with family and friends. It can be exhausting with all the preparations – and our minds go into overload as our thoughts churn over with the many things we have to get done.

Once Thanksgiving has passed, we generally tend to think the winter season has arrived.

Winter is typically a refreshing time of year that many eagerly await. Living here in Florida, I can’t say I love the cold, but I do look forward to the cooler days we have during fall and winter.  Don’t get me wrong, we often do get down to freezing during the winter months, but I don’t miss the snow and biting cold!

Still, for most, winter does bring the colder temperatures, the beautiful blankets of snow over the landscape, the festivities with family and friends, and the anticipation of a brand new year right around the corner.

How Nature Walks Make Your Brain Healthier by Rebecca Hill

How Nature Walks Make Your Life Healthier: Several studies and research have shown that people who walk a lot in the woods or parks have reduced stress level compared with those people who walk in cities.
As part of my research I created this info-graphic “How Nature Walks Make Your Brain Healthier.”
The graphic mainly talks about:
• Why city dwellers need more walks.
• How walks in nature can boost your immunity.
• Why there is a need for more parks in cities.
• Physical benefits of walking that could improve your body.
• The benefits of Japanese forest bathing.
